Organizing Your Home 10 Minutes at a Time

Busy Mom with busy kids? Think you don’t have time to organize? Think again! Even with a packed schedule, you can tackle clutter in short bursts. My top tip for today is to set a timer for 10 minutes and pick one SMALL task: clear off a countertop, sort a drawer, or put away out-of-place items. And when I say small, nothing is TOO small to count. The whole goal of this method is to rack up daily wins as you build up your declutter muscle in short bursts. Think of this as a daily 10 minute HIIT session vs spending 2 hours at the gym once a week.

My favorite thing to do is to pick one room, grab a laundry basket, and spend 5 minutes filling it with anything that is trash, dirty, broken or out of place. Then I use the other 5 minutes throwing away the trash/recycling, putting dishes in the sink and laundry in the bin or repatriating items that belong elsewhere. Small wins add up, and before you know it, your home will feel more manageable. As always, it’s much easier to KEEP things clean than to start from scratch, so schedule a consult with us today ( clickable) and let Space to Play help you get your house in shape so you can clean up in ten minutes, every time

Bonus tip: Get the whole family involved—make it a game and race against the clock! It’s fun for our family to use a visual timer and all work together in one room to get it done before the timer runs out. Just for fun you could declutter to your favorite song, but it plays on repeat till you finish the room together. After cleaning up, I’ll usually reward the kids with a game of family hide and seek or go jump with them on the trampoline.
